Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

Garvey School District empowers students to explore the natural world, ask meaningful questions and develop the skills to think like scientists. Our curriculum supports the Next Generation Science Standards and science is learned at every grade level, TK-8th grades. Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education is seen throughout our schools as students showcase STEM projects, robotics, science projects and opportunities that help students apply scientific concepts.  

Summer 2026, our teachers were refreshed with our science curriculum by attending a 3-day training hosted by Full Option Science System (FOSS). FOSS was developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California Berkeley and provides a hands-on science curriculum that encourages students to explore, investigate, and understand the world around them. Teachers were able to learn, as students would by conducting their own experiments during this training.
