The Garvey School District is committed to building a strong home-school partnership. A variety of parent/community education and involvement programs and services are provided to promote meaningful partnership with the community and parents. Examples include district- and school- level parent advisory committees, School Site Councils, parent education (e.g., 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Latino Literacy classes, Parent Expectations Support Achievement (PESA), Food and Nutrition, and Educational Technology classes), and support services (e.g., translations and interpretations, transportation services, and babysitting services).
In addition, the school provides parents and guardians with timely information on programs and individual student assessment results, including report cards, progress report and STAR student reports. Student assessment data are discussed at parent conferences and all written notifications are in four languages to enhance communication and partnership between school and home.
