Welcome to the Learning Support Services Department!
"Educational Excellence and Equity for All Students" describes the vision of the Garvey School District . To meet this challenge, the entire staff of the Learning Support Services Department (LSS) is committed to ensuring high-quality instruction for all students through our continuous, concerted efforts in the following areas:
- Providing rigorous curriculum aligned to the Common Core (California) State Standards
- Utilizing assessments to monitor student progress, measure program effectiveness, and guide instructional practices
- Effectively utilizing state- and district-adopted curricular materials to provide universal access for students with diverse needs
- Designing and implementing quality supplemental intervention and enrichment programs
- Promoting meaningful parent involvement to strengthen home-school partnership
- Supporting a quality professional learning community through research-based professional development programs
- Utilizing technology, library and media resources to support teaching and learning

**Please note:** The state of CA is part of the transition to full implementation of ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), the reauthorization of ESEA (Elementary Secondary Education Act) as signed into law in December 2015. Because of this transition, some requirements for Program Improvement will not be in place during the 2016-17 school year.
