Incorporated in 2005, the Garvey Education Foundation was created to enhance and strengthen academic programs and extracurricular activities in the Garvey School District. The Foundation awards mini-grants ($400-$600) to staff who implement core curriculum projects, after-school activities, and initiatives that challenge students to reach high academic standards. Generous donations from corporate partners, community leaders and staff make these grants possible.
The Foundation also contributes funds for the Rosemead Backpack program, distributes food and toys during the holidays for high-need families (in partnership with Garvey School District), and hosts an annual Awards Gala in the Spring to raise funds for the community. The Foundation also encourages involvement from the entire Garvey community.
During the pandemic, GEF executed the COVID-19 Family Relief Fund and Summer Community Support Campaign, distributing more than 2500 food and health baskets and 30,000 pounds of produce, meat and cheeses to over 125 high-need families.
